ABOUT THE ARTIST
Édouard-Léon-Théodore Mesens, known as E.L.T. Mesens (Brussels, 1903–1971), pianist, composer, poet, writer and visual artist, was one of the founders of surrealism in Belgium.
Often referred to as the "homme-orchestre" (the "one-man band") of this major artistic movement, he lived, as he wrote, “without God, without master, without king and without rights”.
